The Incredible Simon Townsend will be performing with his full band at several fantastic locations in Devon and Cornwall in March 2012.

A familiar name with an original sound, Simon Townshend is straight from the lineage of one of British musics most famous families. The son of Englands top big-band reed man and baby brother of Who legend Pete Townshend.In addition to his own music, Simon has produced artists both in London and New York. He has performed with numerous established acts ranging from Jeff Beck to Pearl Jam, and including elder brother Pete Townshend, with notable song writing and vocal contributions to Iron Man and Psychoderelict. Other credits include 15 years as guitarist and vocalist in The Who, playing sold out tours of Europe, Asia and North America, and a monumental performance at the 2010 Super Bowl.

His music has been enjoyed from within London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall to the far reaches of the globe, from Australia to America, Mali to Montreal and almost everywhere in between. Playing both regular guitar and acoustic weissenborn (a traditional Hawaiian style slide guitar played across the lap) you can expect to hear songs from all four studio albums.

Performances at Europe’s biggest festivals including Glastonbury’s Acoustic and Avalon stages, have cemented his popularity within the acoustic roots scene. The home grown, hard touring approach he’s employed over the years has built a strong fan base worldwide. His ‘British Americana’ sound is influenced by Delta Blues and Gypsy swing mixed with a road worn style of song writing that echoes a life on the move.

Well it’s been a cold harsh winter so far, the roof nearly blew off LMC headquarters last night, but the waves have been pumping on the north coast of Cornwall. The taste of spring is in the air and we are getting geared up for an incredible summer, stacked full of amazing acts from all over the country and indeed the world right here in the Devonshirian and Cornish lands.

Our most recent addition to the LMC circuit is the Koola Bar in Newquay. An amazing venue that can really make the most of the best original rock, ska, hip hop acts and many other wild and wonderfull genres. Every Friday expect to be blown away by bands that have never before graced the wild shores of Kernow.

The Red Lion in Newquay has been going from strength to strength with some of the best cover bands and original acts from all over the county.

Ride cafe has been consistantly banging every single Thursday. Gaining popularity from all the music lovers in Plymouth and indeed the Musicians who have been gracing the stage.

The Walkabout in Newquay is going to be stacked out with acts booked through LMC all over the Summer.

Sailors Pub will be putting on great shows every Thursday.

The Watering Hole in Plymouth will be a constant hive of musical activity this summer with over eight gigs a week going on under the canopies overlooking the beautifull barbican, in the afternoons and evenings.

There are more venues joining in with the Live Music Connections revolution, breathing fresh life and talent into our wonderfull counties. Stay tuned to keep up to date with all the latest news.
